About 90% of “classic” team-building games fail with adults because they are embarrassing. Nobody wants to fall backwards at 35 to “trust the team”. This list brings games colleagues will at least laugh at — and actually learn something about each other.
Indoor team-building games
1. Two truths and a lie – the spicy version
Everyone writes three claims about themselves; one is a lie. The twist: the lie has to be believable. Whoever gets caught buys drinks. That is the whole rulebook.
2. Pictionary, but with jargon
Teams draw words from your own company jargon (sprint, OKR, churn, deck). You will find out, two years in, who still does not know what they mean.
3. Silent line-up
Five minutes, no talking, line up by something (birthday, years at the company, shoe size). Everyone has to communicate — by gesturing.
4. Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes (VR co-op)
One person defuses a bomb in VR; the others coach from a printed manual. It is built so you communicate fast and precisely — no PowerPoint required.
5. Marshmallow tower
20 spaghetti sticks, 1 marshmallow, 1m of string, 1m of tape, 18 minutes. The marshmallow goes on top. Simple, classic, always works.
Active team-building ideas
6. Beat Saber mini tournament (VR)
Laser-saber rhythm game in VR. Mini high-score format — the CFO and the junior start even, and the crowd cheers with schadenfreude.
7. Headis (table tennis + football headers)
Ping-pong table, but you use your head instead of a paddle. Silly, competitive, fast. Six-minute matches.
8. Eleven Table Tennis (VR ping-pong)
Realistic VR ping-pong — it simulates the real thing surprisingly well, and 20 minutes actually tires you out. Run it as a mini round-robin.
Creative tasks
9. “Company meme wall” contest
Each team makes five meme images about your office life in 30 minutes. Anonymous vote, prize for the winner. This one never gets old.
10. Reverse elevator pitch
Everyone pitches in another colleague’s role. It shows who actually pays attention to what other people do.
11. Escape room (classic)
Still works — just do not be last in the queue: popular Budapest rooms fill 2–3 weeks ahead. A VR alternative gives the same shape with simpler logistics.
12. Cook-off
30 minutes per team, five set ingredients, some kind of theme. The “Top Chef” format always brings the laughs.
